HealthServe Australia was established in 2004 by CMDFA Inc.
With the following basic aims:
 
  • Following Jesus Christ's example of compassion and healing towards suffering and disease 
  • Embracing his concerns for the needs of the whole person 
  • Providing free membership for all Christians involved in health care 
  • Using a tax deductible fund - DGR - called "HealthServe Australia Overseas Aid Fund" 
  • And with the purpose of complementing rather than competing with similar aid groups.

Through a memorandum of understanding with PRIME Partnerships in International Medical  Education - UK www.prime-international.org.uk , we have established Prime Project of HSA, working closely with international partners.  
  • PRIME promotes whole person medical education emphasising values, ethics and addressing cultural and spiritual aspects of doctor and patient.
  • We maintain a database of doctors and other health professionals willing to go on teaching trips to less developed countries.
  • We have an ongoing commitment to help with the periodic contact programmes of the Post Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine, run in various states of India by the Christian Medical College Vellore.
  • Other tutoring trips may be possible in future especially to Papua New Guinea
 
Would-be tutors need to provide CV, referees and attend the annual Prime Tutor Training weekend (held in June).

  The Intermed Summer School is an intensive 3 week course specifically designed as an Introduction to International Health and Development for Christian Health Care Professionals who are preparing to work in less developed/ less resourced contexts in the world, or who are on leave from such work.
Courses take place each January for 3-4 weeks in Adelaide. Health Serve Australia highly recommends this course for those who wish to be involved visiting overseas projectsor preparing for possible future overseas experienc.
 
Intermed Scholarship Project of HSA. As the Intermed course attracts candidates from backgrounds where they may be paid little a scholarship fund has been set up. Both donors and potential recipients are invited to follow the links.
 
 
Medical student members of CMDFA established Hope Zimbabwe as a project of HSA. It began in response to the desperate situation due to cholera in 2009, and has gone on to support a wider range of needs including camps for AIDS orphans and assistance for medical students in Zimbabwe. Funds are being channelled with help of Daryl Hackland of ICMDA.:
