Care for the Elderly Maasai

About the campaign
In the remote highlands of Tanzania, the elderly Maasai living in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area face heartbreaking challenges in their later years. With limited access to clean water, medical care, and basic living aids, many elders rely entirely on others for their most basic needs—like toileting, eating, and receiving medication. This is a community rich in culture but underserved in healthcare, especially for its most vulnerable.
Pastor Daniel Kipeen, a local Maasai leader and passionate advocate, has been working tirelessly to support three villages in the region. Alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, he provides care and coordinates support for elders who are too often forgotten. From this commitment, a bold new vision has emerged: to build a medical centre just outside the conservation area near the village of Naiyobi. The land has been secured, architectural plans have been drawn, and approval has been granted to meet Tanzanian government standards. Staffing and medicine have already been pledged—what remains is the funding to build.
In partnership with Burnside Family Church and HealthServe Australia, we are stepping out in faith with a three-year plan to bring this vision to life. The centre will offer regular access to essential medicines, provide living aids for the elderly, include a safe and dignified birthing room for local women, and serve as a long-term base for local healthcare and outreach.
In 2025, our first goal is to raise funds to install a 3.5 km pipeline to bring water to the site—a vital foundation for the facility. To help make this possible, HealthServe Australia will match donations up to $20,000 this year to help get Stage One of the project completed.
This is more than a building—it’s a lifeline. Your support will bring dignity to the elderly, hope to the community, and sustainable healthcare to a region in deep need.
